Read UIIs

This section describes the appropriate reader technology used to read the UII. Each UII affixed to an item in accordance with IUID is encoded in a two-dimensional (2D) Data Matrix that can only be read by a 2D scanner. UIIs cannot be read using an ordinary linear barcode laser scanner.
