This section explains the IUID Data Matrix, how to apply it to items, and what standards to use to ensure marks are consistently readable. The Unique Item Identifier (UII) affixed to an item is encoded in a two-dimensional (2D) Data Matrix ECC 200 Symbol. Each UII is globally unique and unambiguous, ensuring data integrity and data quality throughout the life of the item.
